Free Kids Fishing Events at Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Stores in June!

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's are hosting free family fishing events on select weekends in June from 10AM to 2PM. These hands-on events are designed to get kids outdoors and introduce them to the basics of fishing in a fun, no-pressure setting — and there's no cost to attend.
What's Included at the Free Fishing Event
- Catch-and-release fishing ponds — kids can try their hand at reeling one in
- Casting games to practice aim and technique
- Crafts and activities for younger children
- A free slip bobber giveaway while supplies last
Everything is geared toward beginners, so no experience is necessary. Staff and volunteers are on hand to help first-timers learn how to bait a hook, cast a line, and safely release their catch.
Event Dates & Times
The events run on two weekends: June 13–14 and June 20–21, each day from 10AM to 2PM. You can drop in any time during those hours — there's no registration required at most stores.
What to Bring
You don't need to bring any gear — loaner rods and bait are typically provided at the ponds. Just bring the kids, sun protection, and a water bottle. If your child has a favorite rod or reel, they're welcome to bring it along.
