Attention Tesla owners! If you bought a Tesla between 2012 and 2024, your vehicle may be part of a recent recall due to an issue with the font size on brake, park, and anti-lock braking system (ABS) warning lights.

The Problem: The font size used for these critical warnings is smaller than federal safety regulations allow, making them difficult to read and potentially increasing the risk of accidents. However, no accidents related to this issue have been reported.

Affected Models:

  • 2012-2023 Model S
  • 2016-2024 Model X
  • 2017-2023 Model 3
  • 2019-2024 Model Y
  • 2024 Cybertruck

The Fix: Thankfully, this recall doesn’t require you to take your car to a service center. Tesla will automatically push a free software update to your vehicle that will increase the font size to meet safety standards.

Timeline:

  • Some vehicles have already received the update.
  • The rest will receive it starting in early February 2024.
  • You will receive an official notification letter around March 30, 2024.

Additional Information:

  • This is not Tesla’s first recall in recent months. They issued previous recalls for Autopilot and rearview camera issues, both addressed through software updates.
  • The NHTSA is also investigating a potential steering issue in 2023 Model 3 and Y vehicles.

Stay Informed:

  • For more details, check your VIN number against Tesla’s recall database
  • You can also find updates on Tesla’s website or by contacting customer service.

Remember: While this recall addresses a potential safety concern, it’s always important to stay vigilant while driving and pay attention to all warning lights, regardless of their size.
