Pedigree is on a mission to find every dog a loving home, and they’re taking a big step towards that goal by covering dog adoption costs for one day only. On Sunday, November 26, 2023, in a day they’ve deemed Shelter Sunday, Pedigree will pay the adoption fees for any dog adopted from participating shelters across the country.

This is an amazing opportunity to open your heart and home to a furry friend without having to worry about the financial burden of adoption fees. The average pet adoption fee in 2023 is between $50 and $300, and having that cost covered can make a big difference for families who are considering adopting.

Why Adopt a Dog?

There are so many reasons to adopt a dog. Dogs make wonderful companions, and they can bring so much joy and love into our lives. They can also help us stay active and get some exercise. And, of course, they’re just so darn cute!

If you’ve been thinking about adopting a dog, Shelter Sunday is the perfect time to do it. With Pedigree covering the adoption fees, there’s no excuse not to!

How to Adopt a Dog on Shelter Sunday

To adopt a dog on Shelter Sunday, simply visit your local participating shelter and find a dog that you love. The shelter staff will be happy to help you with the adoption process.

Here are some tips for adopting a dog:

  • Do your research. Before you adopt a dog, it’s important to do your research and make sure that you’re choosing a dog that is a good fit for your lifestyle.
  • Consider your lifestyle. Do you have a lot of time to spend with a dog? Do you have a yard for a dog to play in?
  • Be honest with yourself. Are you ready for the commitment of having a dog?
  • Talk to your family. Make sure that everyone in your family is on board with the idea of adopting a dog.
  • Be prepared to make a long-term commitment. Dogs are a big responsibility, and they need a lot of love and care.

Details about the Reimbursement

Once you bring your new fur baby home, you’ll have until Dec. 22, 2023 to submit your adoption receipt for reimbursement. Pedigree will cover up to $200, but any amount over $200 will be at your own expense.

Keep in mind that while Pedigree says you can submit your receipt as early as Nov. 28, their fine print also says the redemption form won’t be available until Dec. 1, 2023. So, if you don’t see the form immediately following your pet adoption on Nov. 28, make sure to check back for that form on the Pedigree website on Dec. 1.
