The winter Semi-Annual Sale always begins the day after Christmas. It is also usually a week shorter than the summer sale. Furthermore, the winter Semi-Annual Sale generates more sales revenue for the retailer than the summer sale, leading some to believe it is the superior event.

Historically, the summer Semi-Annual Sale began in mid-June and lasted until the Fourth of July. The summer Semi-Annual Sale began a little earlier than usual in 2023, on June 3, and ended on Sunday, July 2, 2023.

During the summer sale, there was a free shipping coupon code that was briefly available, making it simple to order online and have the goods delivered to your front door. We’re crossing our fingers for another one during the winter event.

This means that if you use the free shipping code, you cannot use another coupon code at the same time. If you shop at Bath & Body Works in-store, you can combine multiple coupons if you have them.

For years and years of Semi-Annual sales at Bath & Body Works, 75% off was the norm, but that all changed in 2020. Fortunately, it appears to have returned. Here’s what happened:

-Summer and Winter 2019 — All Semi-Annual sales included 75% off select items in store and online.
-Summer 2020 — As a result of the pandemic, this Semi-Annual Sale was almost unrecognizable. Savings online never exceeded 50%, and there were no promo codes — not one — available throughout the longer-than-usual 6-week sale. In-store savings for potential new stores remained at 75%.
-Winter 2020 — The same formula was used for this sale, with 75% off in-store but only 50% off online. -Promisingly, the online sale prices were updated to 50% – 75% off on the final two days of the winter 2020 sale, reverting to normal.
-Summers 2021-2023 — 75% online savings were resurrected, with the same percentage off in-store.

Local stores, however, are likely to continue receiving the green light first to discount aggressively, making them the better place to get the best deals.

–The goal is always to save 75% of your money.

The best deals are on “select” fragrances with overrun inventory (which is a fancy way of saying “we made too much”) and seasonal, discontinued, or overstocked classic fragrances.

Because Bath & Body Works does not typically put their merchandise on clearance the rest of the year, the Semi-Annual Sale is their primary method of inventory management.

That means that any pumpkin scents that do not sell by December will be included in the winter Semi-Annual Sale. Valentine’s Day merchandise, discontinued scents, and even some overstocked bestsellers will reappear in the summer sale.

The pandemic in summer 2020 halted the $10 off a $40 purchase coupon for a few years, but it was reinstated in summer 2022 and again in 2023!

–The best online deals are almost always found in the final two days of the sale.

One of the most consistent findings in all of the sales we’ve studied is that deals always get better online in the last one to two days of the sale. Our $10 off coupons should still be valid for an even Krazier deal by the time the prices drop.

–Shop the sale early and return later for a price adjustment.

Bath & Body Works’ price adjustment and return policies were updated in September 2022. Their policy has been updated to state that both online and in-store purchases are now eligible for a one-time price adjustment within 14 days of the original purchase. That means you can shop the week before the Semi-Annual Sale and bring your receipt back to get the difference credited back to your original method of payment. The following are the key caveats to the price adjustment policy:

Certain sales, such as flash sales, select promotions lasting 48 hours or less, Candle Day, and email offers, are not eligible for price adjustments. So you’ll have to return the item with your receipt and then repurchase it at the new lower price.
BathandBodyWorks.com is distinct from your local store. As a result, price adjustments do not work across party lines. If you fill out a contact form, you can get an online price adjustment. Original receipts are required for in-store price adjustments.
