Apple and Verizon have their contenders in the kids smartwatch market, but Google is raising the bar with the new Fitbit Ace LTE, a feature-packed smartwatch designed to keep kids active, connected, and independent of smartphones.

After testing the Fitbit Ace LTE with my son, who falls squarely in the target age range of 7-11, it’s evident that Google has done their research. A standout feature is the device’s resilience, with Google even claiming it can withstand a trip through the washing machine!

The Fitbit Ace LTE boasts built-in cellular connectivity through Google’s Fi network, meaning no need to link it to your phone or plan. This allows for seamless calling, messaging, and real-time location tracking directly through the app.

While all communication must be done through the app and requires trusted contacts to download it as well, this closed system also has a significant advantage: it eliminates random calls and texts, safeguarding kids from unwanted spam or potential scams.

Fitbit Ace LTE also incorporates built-in games that incentivize physical activity. To unlock and play these games, kids are required to get moving first, promoting a healthier, more active lifestyle.
